ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Ensure adherence to all Legal, Health, Safety and Environment standards and
policies.
• Lead by example through compliance with the company purpose and values.
• Manage and supervise all related daily tasks and projects in a fabrication and
machine workshop.
• Uphold, develop, implement, and maintain best and safe engineering practices
for all trades.
• Improve equipment reliability and availability through quality maintenance as
well as application of appropriate engineering standards within workshop to
satisfy client needs.
• Effective supervision and management of team members, budget, and other
resources under their control to achieve company goals.
• Maintain strong planning orientation and compliance to the company work
management system.
• Proactively identify areas to prevent unplanned stoppages and maintain strong
production focus and provide feedback to stakeholders on work done.
• Effective teamwork and coordination with all stakeholders with focus on being
service orientated.
• Ensure paperwork such as employee’s timecards and reports are accurately
completed and submitted timeously.
• Facilitate the ongoing development of knowledge, skills, and personal growth
of team members.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of 23 points.
• A National Trade Certificate or equivalent in Boilermaking or Fitting and
Turning.
• A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 10 years relevant post-trade test work experience of which, a
minimum of 5 years should have been on supervisory level. Applicants with
more relevant work experience will be at an advantage.
• Practicable skills, maintenance related experience in a heavy process, mining
or steel industry. Copper Smelter experience will be an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of welding, fabrication and machining practices and related
disciplines in an industrial workshop environment
• Sound knowledge of Welding Fabrication standard AWS D1.1 and ASME IX
will be an advantage.
• Welding Inspector qualification / Certification will be an advantage.
• Ability to develop WPS & WPQR and sound interpretation of NDT reports will
be an advantage.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Experience working with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems,
MAXIMO is an added advantage.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, with strong MS Excel skills).
• Code B Driver’s License.
