Job Description
The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) was established in terms of the Statistics Act No. 9 of 2011. The Agency is mandated, amongst others, to constitute the central statistical authority of the State and to collect, produce, analyse and disseminate official statistics in Namibia.
Position : Statistician: Satellite Accounts & Supply and Use Tables (permanent)
Reporting to : Senior Statistician: National Accounts
Duty Station : NSA Head Office, Windhoek
Job Purpose
The incumbent will assist in carrying out research and analysis of methodology on Satellite accounts & Supply and Use Tables based on international best practices. Assist in the compilation of satellite accounts (SAM) and SUT.
Key Performance Areas:
• Carry out research and analysis of methodology on Satellite accounts & Supply and Use Tables based on international best practices
• Construct a product frame by industry for Namibia for Supply and Use side by establishing a production matrix and the import matrix.
• Conduct detailed (output and expenditure) economic survey to collect business, institutions and household data for supply and use tables.
• Conduct survey to estimate trade margins for wholesale and retail trade as well as transport margins.
• Coordinate with other professional staff in the planning and compiling the supply and use tables.
• Implement activities, design, develop as well as maintain the supply and use tables at set intervals.
• Develop the supply and use tables based on international best practices.
• Classify industries and products as per the international classifications
• Collaborate with key stakeholders in the compilation of Satellite accounts such as the Tourism Satellite account, Mining, etc.
• Develop technical documents of sources and methods as well as manuals for the Satellite accounts & Supply and Use Tables.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor
Educational Qualifications & Job Requirement Experience
• Bachelor Degree in Economics (NQA 7)
• 1 year working experience in economic research/ research
• Experience in planning and designing economic surveys.
• Experience in economic survey undertaking and analysing economics data. • A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage
Specific Requirements
• Technical – Strong analytical and research skills; Ability to initiate and execute projects; prepare technical reports, recommendation and advice.
• Behavioural – Well written and spoken communication skills, presentation and negotiation
