Job description:
To ensure equipment availability and reliability by the application of sound maintenance
management systems and resources to achieve contractual obligations within set KPI’s.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and control maintenance performance by coordinating maintenance activities.
, internal and external resources and equipment performance in order to meet optimal
targets and standards.
• Manage and control the execution of the total enterprise Asset Management activities to
ensure sound service level performance
• Manage and control resources and spares for optimum service level performance
• Manage and control the adherence to engineering and operational standards to ensure
sustainable service level performance
• Analyze production and assets performance trends to identify and implement corrective
actions or improvements.
• Conduct root cause analyses and initiate improvement and or corrective actions for
optimum asset performance and cost-effectiveness
• Ensure adherence to SHERQ and legal standards and assist in the improvement of such
• Provide technical support towards employees and stakeholders in order to sustain sound
service levels
• identify cost savings initiatives and implement where possible
• Manage and Control equipment, tools and PPE and ensure its fit for use and in accordance
with training.
• Identify, where possible. areas of improvement and convey such information to Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Trade test certificate in Fitter/Boilermaker with a minimum of N4
• Certificate and or diploma in maintenance management
• Operational experience of at least 8-10 years in the mining environment.
• Mining maintenance experience of at least 3 years
• Minimum of 10 years as a superintendent in a maintenance environment
• Valid driver’s license
Knowledge, and competencies:
- Extensive leadership skits
- Extensive performance management skills
- Extensive engineering knowledge in crushers/mills
- Extensive planning and organising skills
- Extensive technical skit ineffective maintenance and accurate repairing
- Extensive fault finding and diagnostic skills
- Technical skills in Engineering drawing interpretation
- Good communication cooperation and interpersonal skills
- Extensive Knowledge on MS Office (Excel, Word. MS Project) and Maintenance Enterprise
Systems i.e. JIDE/SAR - Skills and Knowledge in Root cause analyse and problem solving
- IR knowledge, Mine Health and Safety Act, relevant COP’s and SOP’s
- Working knowledge of all SHER related policies, practices and procedures
