Opportunity | Duty Description

Rennies Transport and Material Handling is an equal opportunity employer with offices based in Walvis Bay. The Company currently has a vacant position and is looking for appropriately 1x qualified Side Loader Driver to join its ranks as soon as possible.

Primary responsibilities

• Deliver goods while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states.
• Load and unload cargo.
• Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
• Take orders for new deliveries.
• Drive long distances.
• Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows.
• Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
• Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
• Comply with all administrative, technical and safety procedures and requirements and adhere to all regulations of the Group and any Government with regards to road usage and the transport of freight
• Inspect their trailer before and after the trip and record any defects they find.
• Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
• Complete daily trip sheets and MDC logbook.
• Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
• Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order.
• Operate the sideloader in accordance to safety standards / procedures.
• Get goods to client on time.
• Transport hazardous materials.
• Take special precautions while driving.
• Maintain log of trips.

Opportunity | Duty Requirement(s)

• Code CE Driver’s License
• 3 Years post license experience
• Dangerous Goods by Road Certificate (min 25 years of age to obtain)
• Defensive Driving – Heavy Vehicle License
• Sideloader operator’s card / certificate
• Valid PDP – Code of conduct
• Medical Fitness Certificate
• Namibian Citizen
• Grade 10
