Most employers require a relevant diploma or degree in education, human resources, or a technical mining-related field. Essential certifications include Train the Trainer, OHS training accreditations, and Namibian Qualifications Authority (NQA) registration. Mining-specific tickets like blasting or heavy equipment operation are highly valued.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of a Senior Trainer at a mining company like LEWCOR?
You will design and deliver training programs for operational staff, assess competency levels, and maintain training records per Namibian mining regulations. The role involves conducting safety inductions, coordinating with site supervisors, and ensuring compliance with the Minerals Act and Mine Health and Safety Regulations.
How does the contract-based nature of this position affect job security and benefits in Namibia?
Contract roles in Namibian mining typically offer fixed-term employment with renewable options based on project needs. Benefits vary by employer but often include medical aid contributions, pension fund participation, and annual leave as mandated by the Namibian Labour Act. Always clarify contract duration and renewal conditions before signing.
What is the work culture like for trainers in Namibian mining operations?
Expect a hierarchical environment where respect for seniority and adherence to safety protocols are paramount. Trainers often work across diverse teams including local Namibian workers and expatriate personnel, requiring cultural sensitivity and multilingual communication skills. Site rotations and FIFO arrangements are common in remote locations.
What career progression opportunities exist for Senior Trainers in Namibia's mining industry?
Experienced trainers can advance to Training Manager, SHEQ Manager, or Human Resources Development roles. Some transition into consultancy or join the Namibian Chamber of Mines training committees. Further specialization in ISO standards or obtaining an MBA strengthens prospects for executive positions.

Highlight verifiable training delivery hours, Namibian regulatory knowledge, and experience with adult learning methodologies. Include references from previous mining operations and evidence of NQA-aligned program development.
