Senior Journalist: Sport

JOB PURPOSE
To identify newsworthy sport related news articles and coach NEPC reporters on sport journalism.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Identify sport articles and strive to be the first newspaper to report on a sport event
• Write sport articles, features and columns of such quality to build a repertoire with readers
• Pre-edits all sport articles written by reporters
• Photography
• Staff Management

QUALIFICATIN AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree [NQA Level 7] in Media Study from a recognized tertiary institution
• Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by NQA
• Five (5) years relevant working experience of which two (2) years should have been at a supervisory level
• A code 08 driver’s license is an added advantage

COMPETENCY/SKILLS
• Excellent command English language and a local language
• Excellent writing skills
• Nose for news
• Ability to work under-pressure and during weekends
• Photography skills
• Knowledge of journalistic ethics
• Supervisory skills
