SENIOR MASSAGE THERAPIST – ultimate.earth

You typically need a diploma or certificate in therapeutic massage from a recognized institution, such as the Namibian Institute of Therapeutic Massage or equivalent accredited training. Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of Namibia is usually required. Employers often prefer candidates with 3-5 years of practical experience and specialized training in modalities like deep tissue, sports, or aromatherapy massage.

You will conduct client assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and perform therapeutic massage sessions ranging from 30 to 90 minutes. Senior roles often include mentoring junior therapists, maintaining treatment records, managing appointment schedules, and ensuring hygiene standards comply with Namibian health regulations. You may also advise clients on posture, stretching, and wellness practices.

Namibian employers often emphasize personal relationships and respect for hierarchy, so building trust with clients and colleagues is essential. Punctuality is valued, though the pace may be more relaxed than in high-pressure international spa environments. Many positions require flexibility to work evenings and weekends to accommodate tourist seasons in areas like Swakopmund or Windhoek.

With experience, you can advance to Spa Manager, Wellness Director, or open your own private practice. Some therapists transition into training roles at local institutions or become consultants for hospitality groups. Further specialization in medical massage or rehabilitation can open doors to working with sports teams or private clinics.

Benefits vary by employer but commonly include annual leave of 18-24 days, as mandated by Namibian labor law. Larger establishments may offer medical aid contributions, pension fund participation, and staff discounts on treatments. Smaller spas might offer commission-based earnings or flexible scheduling instead of comprehensive packages.

Apply through Namibian job portals like My Namibia, Careers Namibia, or directly to hotels, spas, and wellness centers in major towns. Employers prioritize proven experience, strong references, and a professional portfolio demonstrating your techniques. A well-prepared CV highlighting client retention rates and any specialized training will strengthen your application.
