SENIOR GEOTECHNICAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING
OPERATOR

Job Description
1. Develop and execute geotechnical directional drilling plans for mine shaft construction and to accurately locate mineral targets.
2. Operate and maintain geotechnical directional drilling equipment. Must have sound knowledge of Devico directional drilling techniques.
3. Monitor and report on geotechnical directional drilling operations.
4. Liase with engineers, geologists, and other professionals to discuss project- specific geotechnical issues.
5. Perform site investigations and collate data to determine subsurface conditions using appropriate methods
6. Carry out appropriate drilling methods and equipment for given projects and ground conditions.

Skills and Competencies to Have
1. Minimum of 15 years experience in geotechnical directional drilling operations and in-situ field testing on projects.
2. Must have extensive experience in operating Directional Drilling Equipment, Gyro non magnetic surveys, orientations and directional wedges.
3. Ability to read and interpret geotechnical reports
4. Ability to calculate and interpret drill depths, inclinations, and calculate and set directional motor operating parameters.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
7. Ability to operate geotechnical related machinery and field testing equipment
8. Knowledge of local and industry safety regulations
9. Knowledge of environmental regulations related to drilling and sampling
10. Strong problem-solving skills
11. Proficiency with computers and technology
