Key Performance Areas:
- Develops, recommends and implements strategies for improving equipment and process reliability.
- Leads the formulation, planning and implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Reliability Centered Spares (RCS) philosophies and techniques on the mine to achieve Swakop Uranium’s (SU) Asset Management Strategy.
- Monitors and quantifies reliability cost savings, increased production and/or equipment life cycle costs.
- Reviews, recommends and implements improvement of maintenance policy and standards.
- Works closely with Production teams in order to improve production goals.
- Provides assistance to maintenance and Project teams with processes for effective critical spares analysis, PM optimization, condition monitoring, etc.
- Develops project plans for reliability initiatives based on recognized processes.
- Plans and executes reliability projects on the mine, inclusive contractor management.
- Co-ordinates reliability improvement of all metallurgical processing plants and mining equipment.
- Identifies and determines areas where deviations from standard RCM practices are acceptable, by evaluating unique situations, and creating and maintaining an acceptable deviations register, per area and globally.
- Investigates and resolves user problems, initiates system corrections, monitors and expedites system changes-in-progress and tests corrections and enhancements.
- Draws up and implements RCM implementation plans and objectives, in consultation with the Engineering Manager.
- Implements and maintains cost control and continuous improvements measures.
- Analyses RCM data/reports, investigates causes of delays and deviations and implements action to optimize process performance and efficiency targets.
- Drives the successful implementation of reliability improvement initiatives/model.
- Maintains the integrity of the reliability centered maintenance and spares management system data and reporting functions by developing and implementing technical standards, specifications and quality systems.
- Controls user access authority to the computer RCM systems.
- Develops and implements audit programs to assess the effectiveness of reliability centered maintenance and spares philosophies and techniques.
- Utilizes RCM/RCS analysis effectively in the implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance tasks in order to determine service periods with minimum production interruption.
- Audits maintenance area to monitor compliance with reliability centered maintenance and spares management goals.
- Establishes and maintains a register of RCM management, pertaining to equipment standards, work standards and job deviations.
- Identifies production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets, and finds ways to reduce those losses or high costs.
- Applies data analysis techniques, root cause analysis (RCA), root cause failure analysis (RCFA), failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS) in order to develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures, and all other problems that adversely affect operations
- Manages risk in the areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality and production, using various tools in identifying and reducing risk, in order to achieve the Company’s strategic objectives.
- Provides input to a Risk Management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability related risks that could adversely impacts mine operations
- Adheres to the Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets, by working with project engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
