Job Description
JOB ROLE

To prepare preliminary and final designs for infrastructure projects, monitor designs done by consultants, and provide assistance to junior engineers regarding design philosophy, to ensure that NamWater’s Infrastructures are constructed in accordance with acceptable international standards.

 

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

BSc in Civil Engineering

3 years post registration experience

Particular experience in design of water infrastructure

NQF Level

Level 8

 

Legal Requirements

Registered as a Professional Engineer

Driver’s License Code B

Knowledge of codes, SANS/International standards

Exposure to all aspects of the Civil Engineering field as well as a reasonable knowledge of other Engineering fields.

Ability to judge appropriate civil design and adjust where conditions justify

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D) and professional analysis and design software (e.g. PROKON)

Evaluate Financial costs of Internal/External designs

Perform costing of the final design

Management of Project cost

Provide technical advice to Construction and Internal Departments

Prepare Preliminary Designs And Reports

Prepare Detailed Final Designs & Drawings

Prepare Bid Documents and Evaluate Bids Received

Supervise Contractors

Assist Internal Clients with Civil Technical needs
