Purpose of the Job To render a management, engineering support and leadership function on the construction, labour, operations and System Control Sections of the Network Operations and Maintenance Division

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Supervise the work/job activities of staff members in the Section. Provide a management, engineering support and leadership function on construction and labor activities in the Network Operations and Maintenance Division. Ensure growth and stability of the electrical network of the City of Windhoek in line with electrical demand. Ensure proper operation and quality of supply of the electrical network of the City of Windhoek. Perform planning and leadership functions.

Skills, Experience & Education

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: B.SC/B. Eng. Degree (Electrical Engineering) or B-Tech Degree (Electrical Engineering) REQUIRED SPECIALISATION: Electrical Engineering, Low, Medium and High Voltage operating, Construction Standard. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Six (6) years post graduation experience of which two (2) years were in supervisory role as a Professional Engineer, or eight (8) years post registration experience of which four (4) years were in a supervisory role as an Incorporated Engineer . LEGAL REQUIREMENT: Code B/BE driver’s license. Registered as a Professional Engineer or an Incorporated Engineer. PRE-APPOINTMENT TRAINING AS AN ADDED ADVANTAGE: Middle Management Course, Power System Software, Power Quality Programs, Telemetry System, SCADA Systems, Ripple Control System, HV Regulation, Project & Contract Management System, Reporting Software Training, Building and Construction Standard. KNOWLEGDE: Substation Design, Network Design, Electricity Act, engineering related legislation, Council Policy, Tender Procedure, relevant standard, Specification (NSI, SABS, NRS and references to international standards) electricity tariffs for various needs, Wiremen Safety and Licencing, Labour Act.
