Roustabout
Job Introduction The Roustabout is responsible for supporting the drilling operation. This role is diverse and varies on a daily basis. Tasks include location maintenance and housekeeping, spill clean-up, loading / offloading materials, heavy lifting/carrying materials, rig up / down operations, and operating equipment such as backhoe, forklift, trencher, water truck, vac truck, man lift, etc. The Roustabout must be qualified to operate equipment on the location necessary to support the safety and efficiency of the drilling operation.
Specification
Adhere to Company policies, guidelines, and work requirements;
Follow instruction from the Company Man, Rig Manager, and Driller to support operations;
Use forklift to off-load and move materials;
Dig pits and lines;
Install and repair tanks;
Clean-up spills;
Assist in rig moves: help with rig-up / rig-down, assist with general assembly and maintenance and help prepare the new location;
General upkeep of the site location; includes hauling trash or debris, sweeping, shoveling, cleaning, painting, washing of equipment, and related housekeeping duties;
Support other crew members as needed by carrying supplies, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and other additional tasks as assigned;
Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around a work environment with many moving objects;
Wear required PPE and inspect safety equipment and PPE for wear and replace as needed;
Work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties;
Take initiative and work independently during downtime;
Actively participate in all pre-job safety meetings;
Must be comfortable working at heights (50 ft. or greater) for extended periods of time;
Able to repetitively climb steep stairs and be able to lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces;
Requirements
High school diploma, GED or equivalent 1-2 years of Roustabout experience;
Commercial driver’s license;
Basic problem-solving and organizational skills;
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
Mechanical/Operations background;
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment;
Namibian Citizen (certificate of domicile/ permanent residence will be accepted);
