RESIDENT ENGINEER

On behalf of our client we are inviting applications for the following  vacancy to work on a major rural road construction project in Namibia

VACANCY: RESIDENT ENGINEER

Contract Duration

• 2 to 4 years (as agreed).

2. Minimum requirements;

• BSc. (Civil) Engineering Degree or equivalent, acceptable by the Engineering Council of Namibia;
• 10 years relevant road experience;
• Resident Engineer on at least two rural road construction projects;
• Registered/registrable with Engineering Council of Namibia;
• Ability to interpret and apply COLTO Standard Specifications, Project Specifications. FIDIC General Conditions of Contract and Project-level Conditions of Contract.

3- Personal Attributes:

• Strong leadership ability;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English,
• Competent computer literacy;
• Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot.

4. Key responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility to the Project Engineer for site supervision and administration, including site laboratory;
• Communication with contractor, site staff, authorities and public;
• Implement and monitor quality control and materials testing;
• Evaluate and monitor contract programmes and progress;
• Manage contractual issues and claims;
• Prepare and check measurement and payment certificates;
• Cost estimates and quantity calculations;
• Conduct inspections and meetings;
• Complete Interim and Final Contract Reports.

Remuneration packages are entirely negotiable commensurate with qualifications, experience and ability.
