Registered Nurse- Chemotherapy (Swakopmund) – The Namibian Oncology Centre 680 views

• Ensures the safe handling, administration and disposal of chemotherapy drugs, monitoring chemotherapy patients continually during and after treatment
• Ensures efficient and appropriate scheduling of patient chemotherapy appointments
• Proficient in the prevention and management of adverse treatment reactions
• Documentation of all procedures and activities pertaining to chemotherapy administration, accurately and efficiently, including daily patient statistics
• Provision of psychosocial support for the patient and family members during treatment, including patient orientation and education
• Management of consumable stock and supplies for the chemotherapy department
• Management of patient authorisations and fees for service
• Interpretation and analysis of test results and other medical information as necessary
• Demonstrates evidence of effective planning and organisational skills including awareness of resource management
• Demonstrates ability to manage deadlines and effectively handle multiple tasks
• Demonstrates leadership skills, including the ability to work with multi-disciplinary team members.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia
• Minimum 5 years of post-basic clinical experience, recent clinical experience
• Chemotherapy administration experience or post-basic Oncology qualification will be advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues.
• Fluency in English, additional languages will be an advantage
• Ability to work independently
• Demonstrate evidence of IT skills
• Namibian citizenship or residency status
