POSITION: PUBLIC RELATIONS & ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

Primary Functions:

To handle all our official communications and to promote and retain the Municipality’s image through publicity, liaison with the industry, media, and public sector. Also, to ensure good relations and understanding between the public and Municipality.

Key Performance Areas

• Sound interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Responsible for minute taking of Council & Management Committee meetings
• Design, develop and deliver positive and effective communication and public relations activities, including media releases, newsletters and advertisements
• Ensure that the website content is factual, up to date, meets all legal requirements and the needs of the Council and Community
• Support the development and use of social media platforms to further engagement and community building
• Cultivate relationships with journalists, public figures, politicians and relevant organisations
• Ability to Plan and Priorities effectively
• Confidentiality management and adherence

Minimum Requirements

• 3-year National Diploma in Public Relations, Communication, or Business Administration
• 3 years relevant experience in Public Relations and administration
• Valid code BE license.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft office, Graphic design programmes and Desktop Publishing)
• Fluency in English and must be able to communicate at least in two of following local languages: Khoe-Khoe gowab, Otjiherero and Oshiwambo.
• Media exposure
