VACANCY: PROJECT CHIEF OF STAFF
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Project Chief of Staff will be responsible for science communications, contracts, permits, payments, procurement, identification and nurturing of mutually beneficial partnerships. In short, ensuring all things run smoothly and quickly. S/he will support the Managing Director in conducting national engagements as well as being a conduit between Kelp Blue and its various international stakeholders.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide strategic communications leadership to Kelp Blue to ensure that company results are appropriately documented and disseminated
• Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director
• Oversee office operations and ensure that administrative and financial processes and procedures are implemented
• Monitor compliance to contracts and regulatory requirements
• Maintain filing system for Kelp Blue Namibia
• Support implementation of Kelp Blue activities, including facilitating stakeholder engagements and validating project outputs
• Lead logistical support to project activities making sure that all aspects and details of such events are covered.
• Be a liaison between Kelp Blue Namibia and its international stakeholders
• Provide support with data collecting and write up of project knowledge products
• Provide day-to-day implementation of the pilot project as needed
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
A Master degree in Science Communication or a Natural Science Degree in combination with a degree in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing – a post graduate qualification in the above or related fields would be a plus.
Additional qualifications in finance and administration would be added advantage.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience in science communications, finance/Accounting, office administration and project implementation, preferably in a non-profit sector
• Science Communication principles and practices used in the preparation and dissemination of scientific informational and promotional materials in all types of media.
• Experience with stakeholder engagement approaches, in theory and in practice
• Experience in finance, accounting and procurement
• Relevant experience in an international organisation will be an added advantage.
• Experience in keeping processes and projects moving quickly even in the face of challenges through creative problem solving.
