We are looking for a Procurement Officer to oversee purchasing activities and ensure that purchased items are needed, cost-efficient and of high quality. Professionalism should be the main philosophy underlying practice. The incumbent should possess well-developed interpersonal, communication and time-management skills and have good analytical skills.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
The incumbent will be responsible and accountable for:
• Preparing orders for the purchase of surgical supplies.
• Following and enforcing the company’s procurement policies and procedures.
• Assist the Pharmacy Manager to review, compare, analyze, and approve surgical consumable products to be purchased.
• Assist with managing of inventories in all locations.
• Maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
• Assist Pharmacy manager to maintain and update supplier information such as contact details, delivery times, product ranges, and prices as needed.
• Maintaining good supplier relations and assist to negotiating contracts.
; • Research and evaluate prospective suppliers.
• Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports on request.
• Overseeing and supervising employees and all activities of the purchasing department.
• Oversee and control consignment stock – including communication with suppliers, import control, expiry dates, price control.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Senior/Grade 12 Certificate.
• Degree in accounting, business management or a similar field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience as a procurement officer in a hospital environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication and negotiation skills.
• Supervisory and management experience.
• Attention to detail.
