Key Responsibilities
- Stay customer-focused while demonstrating leadership in driving business growth and profitability
- Own and manage a portfolio of Private Clients, acting as the primary relationship contact and taking accountability for the growth, retention, profitability and overall quality of those relationships
- Manage risks within your area of responsibility while driving sustainable business growth
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities to expand the customer base with profitable Private Clients
- Achieve revenue and profit growth by managing and deepening existing client relationships, acquiring new clients, growing lending and investment balances and increasing transactional revenue
- Analyse and understand clients’ financial circumstances and banking needs to ensure FNB is appropriately positioned as their primary banking partner
- Identify opportunities across lending, transactional banking, investments and other relevant FNB and FirstRand solutions, connecting clients with the appropriate specialists where required
- Proactively manage client retention by identifying relationships at risk and taking appropriate action to retain and deepen valuable client relationships
- Apply sound knowledge of credit and financial principles to identify and structure appropriate lending solutions while effectively managing associated credit and portfolio risk
- Lead with strong relationship management, leveraging your knowledge of finance, credit and Private Banking to deliver exceptional client and commercial outcomes
- Proactively manage a geographically dispersed rural client portfolio, including regular outbound client engagement and travelling to meet clients where appropriate
- Communicate effectively, work independently and take personal accountability for your portfolio and results
- Demonstrate strong management, coordination and follow-up skills to ensure client requirements are completed efficiently while maintaining a customer-focused approach
- Build effective relationships across internal stakeholders and specialist areas to coordinate appropriate end-to-end solutions for clients
Requirements
- Have a relevant industry qualification or Commerce degree
- Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar client-facing banking environment, ideally within Private Banking, Business Banking, Commercial Banking or Wealth Management, at a management or junior specialist level
- Have demonstrated experience in managing, growing and/or developing client relationships or portfolios
- Have strong knowledge of credit, risk management, banking products and compliance requirements
- Possess strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify opportunities to grow customer relationships across lending, transactional banking, deposits and investments
- Hold a valid driver’s licence and have own/reliable transport
- Are flexible and able to travel frequently across the regions serviced by the rural portfolio
- Demonstrate an understanding of the unique financial needs and opportunities of rural clients, including agricultural, business and personal financial requirements
- Understand the servicing requirements and operational complexities associated with geographically dispersed Private Clients
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with and build trust across diverse communities and establish long-term client relationships
- Demonstrate strong judgement, integrity, discretion and commitment to professional client service
