POSITION: Plant Manager
LOCATION: Erongo, Namibia
CLOSING DATE: 21 October 2022
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Plan, manage and direct the production, maintenance, quality assurance, human resources and financial control functions at the Erongo Desalination Plant. Streamline all plant activities and drive overall profitability of the contract Create and deliver on a budget while managing risks and customer and stakeholder satisfaction.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Ideate and implement strategic visions to create and improve production, safety, quality and labour utilisation throughout the facility.
- Provide the leadership needed to ensure effective utilization of plant personnel and equipment.
- Collaborate with functional departments in the implementation of continuous improvement activities.
- Investigate and implement innovative process methods to reduce costs and improve quality of the product
- Apply lean manufacturing principles todesign, specify, and validate world-dass manufacturing processes to achieve organizational goals.
- Ensure that all process line schedules are in accordance with facility capabilities, customer requirements, economic performance and planning, expediting as needed.
- Create budget and manage cost structures to maintain operational expenses within budget. Investigate cost-reduction measures.
- Create documentation protocols and ensure that all operations records are properly maintained and reviewed.
- Analyse data and create reports to present to executives and key stakeholders regarding performance and deliverables of KPI’s.
- Identify, manage and report all operational related risks and opportunities.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS, PERMITS/LICENCES. REGISTRATIONS
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical. Electrical or Chemical)
- MBA degree advantageous
- Registration with Namibian Engineering Council is preferable EXPERIENCE:
- Previous working experience In a managerial role for 5 years^ preferably in the water treatment industry.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance principles and applications.
- In-depth knowledge of businessand management principles (budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources.)
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants.
- Familiar with operating plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Previous experience managing contracts and is familiar with legal retirements and terms of use.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9000,14000. 18000 and 45000.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS 8. ABILITIES:
- Have good knowledge of business financial best practices.
- Must display strong understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Must be skilled communicator with strong leadership abilities.
- Has strong negotiation and mediation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must have excellent analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Possess excellent communication skills and leadership attributes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer technology.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Be able to manage and build strong relationship with the dient and stakeholders in the water industry
- Willing to complete psychometric assessments.
- Preferably a Namibian Citizen.
