POSITION: PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT
DEPARTMENT: FINANCE
LOCATION: PORT OF WALVIS BAY
JOB GRADE: 08

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To execute the accounting duties associated with payroll.
The position reports directly to the Manager: Financial Services.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
▪ Act as a liaison between the Finance department and the Human Capital department on accounting matters of payroll.
▪ Compile all monthly salary related general ledger reconciliations, investigate and resolve variances.
▪ Accountable for the payment of employees’ salaries and all third-parties.
▪ Perform monthly and year-end employee PAYE reconciliations.
▪ Reconcile and administer monthly funds statements for employees’ pension and medical aid benefits and resolve any related queries.
▪ Participate in annual and interim audits relating to payroll accounts.
▪ Perform other financial accounting functions within the division.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
▪ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/ or Finance, or equivalent.
▪ Three (3) years relevant working experience.
▪ Good working knowledge of the SAP system.
▪ Technical knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and principles.
▪ Well-developed knowledge of the Namibian Labour Act, Income Tax Act, Social Security Act and other relevant legislations.
▪ Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Suite.
▪ Must be trustworthy with an excellent eye for detail, complemented by good time management ability.
▪ Organized observation ability, coupled with a well-developed ability to analyze and interpret information.
▪ High level of discretion, integrity, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
