A National Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) with passes in English, Mathematics, and preferably Business Studies is commonly expected. Relevant vocational training — such as a NQF Level 4 qualification in Automotive Parts Management or Sales from institutions like the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) or a recognised TVET college — strengthens applications. Prior experience in automotive parts sales or customer service within Namibian dealerships is highly valued.

Daily tasks include receiving and processing parts orders from mechanics and customers, managing stock levels using dealership software (e.g., Autoline or similar), and advising on part compatibility for Namibian vehicle models like Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger. You’ll also handle walk-in customers, process returns and warranties per local supplier agreements, and liaise with regional distributors such as Motorworld Namibia or local OEM parts suppliers.

Namibian automotive workplaces emphasise respect for hierarchy, punctuality, and strong interpersonal communication — especially when serving diverse language groups including Oshiwambo, Afrikaans, and English speakers. Employers expect consultants to be adaptable to irregular hours during peak servicing seasons (e.g., pre-holiday periods) and to uphold Namibia’s Labour Act standards on fair treatment and workplace safety.

With 2–3 years’ experience and demonstrated performance, consultants often progress to Senior Parts Consultant or Parts Department Supervisor roles, particularly at larger dealerships in Windhoek or Walvis Bay. Further growth may include transitioning into inventory management, service advisor training, or pursuing NQF Level 5/6 qualifications supported by employers through SETA-accredited programmes like those offered by the Namibian Automotive Industry Association (NAIA).

Employers typically provide at least 21 days’ annual leave, sick leave as stipulated under the Namibian Labour Act, and access to a registered medical aid scheme — often with partial employer contribution. Most reputable dealerships also offer pension or provident fund enrolment compliant with the Pension Funds Act, and some include fuel or transport allowances reflecting local commuting realities in cities like Windhoek or Swakopmund.
