Savanna Beef Processors Limited was established in 2022 by the Beef Value Chain Forum of Namibia and is in the process of setting up an export standard high throughput red meat processing facility outside of Windhoek. OPERATION OFFICER

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION;

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the project team and ensure the successful completion of the export standard red meat processing facility and to take on the overall management and strategic planning to implement and oversee the world class red meat processing operations.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
⦁ Oversee the project plan to outline the project scope, tasks, timelines and resources required, and report to the Board.
⦁ Communicate with the project team and stakeholders to manage risks and monitor overall project progress
⦁ Coordinate and manage the project team and EPC contractor to ensure the successful completion of the
project within time and budget
⦁ Ensure the adequate provision of basic infrastructure: water; electricity; fiber-optic communication and roads to the property and liaise with and maintain good working relationships to the providers of such services
⦁ Implement systems to monitor and manage the efficient and sustainable use of raw materials, fuels, water and
electricity
⦁ Propose and implement sustainable solutions for waste management, value addition of slaughter by-products and implement and operate a wastewater treatment and reclamation plant
⦁ Set up processing operations and implement standard operating procedures of international standard best industry practices and ensure that such standards are maintained
⦁ Oversee the implementation of a food quality management system
⦁ Set up and ensure that production targets, yields and key performance indicators set for the processing plant are met
⦁ Oversee and plan optimal product and process flow and efficiencies and implement quality assurances.
⦁ Find innovative solutions to production challenges and shortcomings
⦁ Liaise with authorities and institutions to ensure that the relevant permits and accreditations required to conduct business are in place and adhered to
⦁ Appoint, develop and manage personnel in co-operation with the human resource team
⦁ Evaluate personnel against key performance indicators
⦁ Report to the Board on performance indicators against set production and financial targets
⦁ Oversee health- safety- and environmental regulation adherence.

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE;
⦁ University Degree in Engineering Science or Management
⦁ 10 years of working experience in a technical industry or service industry environment
⦁ 5 years of managerial experience in the Namibian Food Manufacturing Industry
⦁ Experience in the development of sustainable infrastructure projects
⦁ Experience in leading teams; managing staff and reporting on budgets and key performance indicators
⦁ Experience in implementing and overseeing the execution of standard operating procedures and quality management systems in a production environment
⦁ Excellent pro-active written and verbal communication
⦁ Excellent leadership and management skills
⦁ Valid Code BE drivers licence
