PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To perform quality control testing and monitoring of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products during production operations to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and product specifications. The position supports continuous production through timeous testing, accurate reporting, prompt escalation of deviations, and effective process control across all production shifts.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality tests on raw materials, in-process, and finished products maize, mahangu, sugar and instant porridge.
- Collect and prepare samples for analysis.
- Monitor product quality during production.
- Verify compliance with specifications and food safety requirements.
- Identify and report out-of-specification results and deviations.
- Escalate quality concerns to the Senior Quality and Technical Controller and production personnel.
- Record and report test results accurately.
- Complete shift handovers and maintain traceability records.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping and hygiene standards.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is clean and functional.
- Report equipment faults and stock shortages.
- Adhere to ISO, HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMP, and company procedures.
- Participate in audits and verification activities where required.
- Follow health and safety requirements.
- Work according to the approved shift schedule.
- Perform ad hoc duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF 4)
- Minimum of 3 years relevant quality control laboratory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience in ISO, HACCP, FSSC 22000, or food safety systems will be an added advantage.
- OR
- Diploma (NQF6) in Food Science, Food Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years relevant laboratory or manufacturing quality control experience.
- Experience in ISO, HACCP, FSSC 22000, or food safety systems will be an added advantage.
- Namibian citizen.
- Computer literacy with working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Proficiency in English.
- Must be willing to work shifts.
- Thinking skills, analysing problems, and thinking strategically.
- Interpersonal skills, being a team player and resolving conflict.
- Communication skills, communicating progress orally.
