OCCUPATIONAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER – NAMDEB HOSPITAL (BAND 6) – Namdeb

You must hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree and be registered with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA). Additional certification in Occupational Medicine or relevant postgraduate training is highly advantageous. Employers also expect current practicing licenses and often prefer candidates with experience in mining or industrial healthcare settings.

Daily duties include conducting pre-employment and periodic medical examinations, managing workplace injuries and illnesses, and advising on occupational health risks and prevention strategies. You will also maintain employee health records, conduct fitness-for-duty assessments, and collaborate with safety teams to ensure compliance with Namibian labour and mining health regulations.

Mining healthcare in Namibia operates in remote or semi-remote locations with diverse, multicultural workforces and strict safety protocols. Expect hierarchical structures, emphasis on compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act requirements, and close integration with occupational hygiene and safety departments.
