INTRODUCTION

The Namibian Revolutionary Transport and Manufacturing Union (NARETU) is a strong advocate for the rights and welfare of workers in the transport and manufacturing sector in Namibia. We’re dedicated to creating positive change, supporting our members, and promoting fair labor practices. We are looking for a committed individual to serve as our Northern Regional Organizer, someone who will help strengthen our presence in the region and ensure that workers’ voices are heard and protected.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Northern Regional Organizer, you will play a key role in enhancing the union’s operations and visibility in the northern region of Namibia. Responsibilities include leading administrative duties, organizing membership campaigns, negotiating with employers, and representing members in hearings and conflict resolution processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handle administrative tasks and ensure smooth running of the regional office

• Mobilize members to grow union presence and influence

• Lead wage negotiations to secure fair compensation for members

• Represent members in disciplinary hearings

• Facilitate dispute resolution and alternative conflict management

• Maintain strong relationships with members, employers, and stakeholders

• Ensure compliance with labour laws and raise awareness of workers’ rights in the transport and manufacturing sector

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Grade 12 Certificate, Tertiary Education will be an added advantage

• Valid driver’s license

• Proficiency in computer use, including office software packages and email

• Proven experience in union organizing or a related field

• In-depth understanding of Labour relations and Labour laws in Namibia

• Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and advocacy skills

• Excellent organizational and administrative abilities

• Ability to mobilize and inspire members and stakeholders

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

• Commitment to the principles and goals of NARETU
