Duties
The Mobile Computing Operator (MCO) is a vital member of the Information Systems Center team, responsible for maintaining and managing all elements of the mobile computing program for Mission Windhoek. The MCO provides application installation and configuration assistance, cellular service plan support, and inventory management for Embassy employees’ remote work platforms, devices, and smartphones. The MCO serves as Contracting Officer Representative for landline and cellular service contracts. The MCO is the primary point of contact for Embassy Windhoek’s SharePoint site and manages user administration, content management, and user training. The MCO serves as the Embassy’s switchboard operator, managing incoming calls, directing users to available online resources, or transferring calls as appropriate.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years as telephone operator/receptionist or customer service representative is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must possess computer and office skills. Fundamental understanding of how mobile devices and smartphones operate. Fundamental understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint programs is required. Understanding of cell phone provider services and methods for requesting services and assistance. Knowledge of asset management and customer service techniques. Must be able to create clear documentation and communicate needs/problems/solutions to supervisory chain.
Education Requirements: Completion of Secondary School (Grade 12) is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Mandatory: English level IV (fluent) in speaking, reading, and writing is required. This will be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, handle all telephone calls and deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
