Key Responsibilities
- Supervise mining assistants and ensure daily tasks are executed according to SOPs and safety rules.
- Oversee mining contractors involved in drilling, blasting, loading and hauling.
- Monitor all mining activities within the mining area.
- Oversee charging activities by the blasting contractor.
- Conduct regular inspections of the explosive storage area.
- Coordinate mine planning, grade control and surveying activities to ensure work is executed according to plan.
- Liaise with the processing foreman and technical services team to manage stockpiles and meet daily primary crushing requirements.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of relevant accessories are maintained.
- Promote company policies, especially health and safety, and ensure timely incident reporting and recording.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12.
- Open pit blasting certificate will be an added advantage.
- Experience in an open pit mining environment is mandatory.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience in contractor management is mandatory.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of success.
- Valid Code BE driver’s licence.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, supervisory and organisational skills.
- Valid police clearance certificate, not older than 6 months.
