The Mining Engineer – Short-term Planner is responsible for developing an optimising short-term mine plans that ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production. This role emphasises converting long-term plans into actionable daily and weekly schedules that align with operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Create daily, weekly, and monthly mining plans aligned with production goals.
Design and optimize drilling and blasting patterns for enhanced efficiency.
Ensure coordination among drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
Monitor production performance against the plan and suggest corrective measures.
Update and maintain mine designs, layouts, and schedules.
Collaborate with geology, survey, and operations teams for precise execution.
Conduct pit inspections to verify adherence to designs and safety regulations.
Analyze delays (e.g., availability, utilization, water, ground conditions) and recommend improvements.
Ensure compliance with mining health, safety, and environmental standards.
Prepare and present production and planning reports.

Requirements

A bachelors degree in mining engineering
2 to 3 years experience in open pit mining (drilling and blasting experience advantageous)
Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Datamine, MineSched, or similar)
A solid understanding of short-term planning principles and mine scheduling
A valid Code B driver’s license
