Key Responsibilities
- Ore spotting duties for grade control in the pit and the ROM pad.
- Recording tallies for both ore and waste loading in the pit.
- Assist with surveying and staking of new points in the mining area.
- Checking actual drilled hole depths against planned hole depths.
- Sampling of ore blocks.
- Maintaining sampling equipment.
- Flattening heave in ore blocks.
- Assist geology with face mapping for ore and waste contacts from the current production face and drilling chips from the ore block.
- Assist with geotechnical mapping of structures on current pit walls.
- Manage housekeeping activities and ensure work areas are well maintained and safe.
- Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as prescribed by the supervisor or manager in a timely manner.
- Promote company policies, particularly health and safety policies, and ensure timely reporting and recording of all incidents on the company safety system.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12.
- Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
- One (1) year work experience, preferably in the mining industry, is an added advantage.
- Excellent English literacy skills, with any other Namibian language an advantage.
- Willing to work extended hours as and when required.
- A valid police clearance certificate, not older than 6 months.
