Medical Technician/ Technologist/ Scientist – PathCare Namibia

An opportunity exists for a Medical Technician/ Technologist/ Scientist qualified in clinical pathology for the Swakopmund laboratory, Erongo region. We are seeking an energetic hard-working individual who display a high level of ethics and integrity while consistently aligning with the PathCare values to join our excellent technical team.

The successful applicant must meet the following criteria:

Knowledge/ Qualifications

  • Certificate in Medical technology/ Diploma or degree in Biomedical Technology
  • Current registration with the HPCNA in Clinical Pathology
  • Computer literate with Meditech knowledge
  • 2-year Microbiology experience essential
  • Must have a valid drivers license

Experience

  • Must have at least 2 year of clinical pathology experience post HPCNA registration.
  • Must have experience with basic troubleshooting on instruments.
  • Must have experience and knowledge on quality management and stock management.
  • A knowledge of quality control and processes in a microbiology laboratory.

Additional requirements

  • Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans and German will be an advantage
  • Must be prepared to work shifts, call, weekends & public holidays
  • Must have an acceptable track record/performance record with regard to the technical and behavioral competencies required to perform in this position

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

  • As of 1st January 2022, PathCare will be implementing a mandatory vaccination policy. All PathCare employees will be expected to be vaccinated.
  • All new employees will need to provide a copy of their vaccination certificate as proof or alternatively proof of their first vaccination prior to appointment and proof of the second vaccination prior to the completion of their probation period.
  • Should any candidate have a valid medical reason as confirmed by an appropriately qualified medical practitioner and/or firmly held cultural/religious beliefs for not having the vaccination this needs to be declared upon your application for the position and will require additional motivation as per the exemption process defined in the COVID Mandatory Vaccination Policy.  Further consideration to this may be given and exemption may apply, depending on the validity of the reason(s) provided as per the COVID Mandatory Vaccination Policy.
  • Should Booster Vaccinations be required in the future, this will also be deemed mandatory as per the policy.
