Key Responsibilities
- Presents, promotes, and sells products using convincing arguments to exist and prospective customers by demonstrating product usage in hospital and theatre settings.
- Trains hospital staff on the correct application of products.
- Identifies sales prospects and contacts them and other accounts as assigned.
- Assists and supports the surgeons during surgical procedures if necessary.
- Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call planners, daily reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses plus closing status, follow-up communication actions and adherence to goals.
- Coordinates with company staff to accomplish the work required to close sales.
- Develops and implements special sales activities to reduce stock.
- Conducts regular stock counts to ensure stock is available when required and refilled when needed.
- Achieves agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within scheduled time.
- Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.
- Follows up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
- Establishes and maintains current client and potential client relationships by attending surgeries when required by surgeons.
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; and making recommendations to management.
- Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc. and reports said information back to the company.
Requirements
- BSc degree in health-related subject or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Medical Representative preferred
- Relevant knowledge of medical devices and their application
- Theatre background an added advantage
- Regional knowledge and ability to form relationships
- Ability to quickly develop in-depth knowledge about applicable products and markets
- Basic computer skills
- Flexible to work late and unscheduled hours
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
