Medical Receptionist
Reporting to: Receptionist Supervisor
Department: Reception
Station: Windhoek
Purpose of the position:
To co-ordinate all activities relating to scheduling of appointments, patient admissions and the front desk, as an information centre and to provide an efficient communication service to all clients at the facility.
Key Performance Areas
- Provide an efficient communication service to all NOC users, customers and patients.
- Facilitate the admission of patients to hospitals and/or other care facilities by gathering and recording physician, patient, and payment responsibility information, answering questions, and providing general information.
- Optimize doctor’s consulting schedules and treatment room(s) utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
- Protect patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Timeously answering incoming calls (no more than 3 rings).
- Ensure that the service to patients at the Front Desk is always consistently maintained at the highest level i.e. positive staff attitude, positive interaction with patients and the building of relationships.
- Provide an effective communication link between all other functional departments within NOC.
- Cooperate and communicate with credit control department to ensure that all the requirements of Credit Control are met.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12
- 3 years working experience in a similar position
- Experience in the healthcare industry or specialist practice will be an added advantage.
- Impeccable telephone etiquette
- Knowledge of Elixir and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and exceptional customer service
- Strong work ethic & ability to work under pressure
- Fluency in English & Afrikaans, other languages an advantage
- Attention to detail
