Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services on heavy commercial vehicles.
- Perform vehicle inspections and identify defects.
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, clutch, suspension, steering, brake, and drivetrain faults.
- Report parts requirements and help minimise vehicle downtime.
- Conduct electrical and pneumatic system diagnostics and repairs.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic and braking systems.
- Interpret fault codes and findings.
- Complete job cards accurately and ensure all repairs are recorded.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, safety procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
- Carry out breakdown and roadside repairs when required.
- Work overtime, standby duties, and shifts when required.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Adhere to workshop SOPs, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic (relevant qualification).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Diesel Technician.
- Proven experience on heavy commercial trucks and trailers in the transport industry.
- Valid Code CE driver’s licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and braking systems.
- Good knowledge of preventative maintenance programmes.
- Ability to interpret fault codes and findings.
- Computer literacy and workshop management system experience will be advantageous.
- Ability to work under pressure, shifts, and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work overtime, standby duties, and shifts when required.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
