MASSAGE THERAPIST – Meraki Wellness Center

Most employers require a diploma or certificate in massage therapy from a recognized institution such as the Namibian Institute of Therapeutic Massage or equivalent regional training. Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of Namibia is often preferred or required for clinical settings. Additional certifications in specialized techniques like Swedish, deep tissue, or sports massage can improve your competitiveness.

You will conduct client consultations to assess needs and health conditions, then perform scheduled massage sessions ranging from 30 to 90 minutes. Responsibilities also include maintaining treatment room hygiene, managing appointment schedules, and keeping accurate client records. You may also advise clients on post-treatment care and wellness practices.

Namibian wellness centers typically emphasize professionalism, punctuality, and strong client relationships in a hospitality-oriented environment. Therapists often work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to accommodate client demand. Respect for hierarchy and clear communication with management and front desk staff are generally expected.

Experienced therapists can advance to senior therapist, spa supervisor, or wellness manager positions within larger establishments. Some pursue specialized training to become instructors or open independent practices in Windhoek, Swakopmund, or tourism hubs. Networking within Namibia's growing wellness tourism sector can also open doors to resort and lodge positions.

Benefits vary by employer but may include annual leave as per Namibian labour law, staff discounts on treatments, and occasionally subsidized meals or uniform allowances. Medical aid and pension contributions are more common in larger hotel spas and corporate wellness centers than in small independent practices. Always clarify benefits during your interview as packages differ significantly across the industry.

Submit a professional CV highlighting your certifications, practical training hours, and any client service experience to the wellness center directly or through Namibian job portals. Employers value demonstrated soft skills, reliability, and a presentable appearance alongside technical competence. Including references from previous supervisors or internship placements strengthens your application considerably.
