VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Liideritz Waterfront Development Company (LWDC) invites interested and qualified Namibians to apply for the position of Maritime Museum Curator and join the team that leads the transformational development agenda. The National Maritime Museum is a subsidiary activity of the LWDC. The Maritime Museum Curator reports the CEO of the LWDC.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
⦁ To implement and monitor the development of the National Maritime Museum.
⦁ To facilitate the research and collection of museum artefacts.
⦁ Responsibility for exhibition development, design and revision.
⦁ To ensure that the exhibitions and inventory of collections in the museum are accurate, up to date and relevant.
⦁ To facilitate exhibition exchanges and loans with similar museums.
⦁ To be responsible for all administrative duties relating to the museum.
⦁ To cooperate with the LWDC management, and to ensure that the museum aligns with the values and operations of LWDC and other similar museums.
⦁ To ensure regulatory compliance of museum activities.
⦁ Responsible for the training of museum guides, volunteers and the maintenance team.
⦁ To liaise with museum partners and relevant stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
⦁ Bachelor’s Degree in Museum Studies or related subject, such as:
⦁ Anthropology
⦁ Archaeology
⦁ Art
⦁ Exhibition management
⦁ History
⦁ Minimum of 4 years experience of which at least 2 years must be in a managerial position
⦁ Preference will be given to applicants with practical experience in the fields of marketing, public relations and those possessing organizational skills.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
⦁ Salary considerations and other fringe benefits will be dependent on academic credentials and experience in museology activities.

⦁ Qualifications obtained outside Namibia must be evaluated by NQA (Namibia Qualification Authority).
⦁ Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and no documents will be returned.
⦁ Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a further selection process which might include a competency assessment and a physical fitness examination.
⦁ Applicants meeting the minimum credentials that are residents of Luderitz or the //Kharas region, will enjoy special consideration for appointment.
