Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive security and loss-prevention strategies across all branches and assigned properties
- Conduct risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities relating to theft, fraud and operational losses
- Work closely with Branch Managers and Regional Managers to prevent stock shrinkage, customer theft and employee fraud
- Manage and oversee security teams across all branches
- Manage and evaluate third-party security service providers and ensure operational requirements are met
- Monitor and audit CCTV, alarm systems, access controls and other security technology
- Review security incidents, OB reports and vehicle-tracking information and investigate irregularities
- Conduct regular store visits and inspections and provide feedback on security and loss-prevention matters
- Investigate significant incidents, including theft, armed robbery, internal fraud and physical violence
- Ensure proper documentation, analysis and follow-up of incidents and recommend preventative measures
- Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services when required
- Provide regular reports on security incidents, loss prevention performance and recommended improvements
- Train Regional Managers, Branch Managers, Assistant Managers and staff on loss-prevention best practices and security procedures
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and security regulations and conduct safety audits and emergency preparedness drills
- Lead, supervise, coach and develop security staff and monitor performance
- Work closely with HR, IT, Finance, Branch Managers and Regional Managers on security, fraud detection and loss-prevention matters
- Monitor high-risk periods, including promotions, new store openings and festive seasons
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Risk Management, Criminology or a related field
- NQF Level 7 qualification
- 5-7 years’ experience in security management, preferably within retail or supermarket chains
- Proven experience in loss prevention and security operations in both high-risk and low-risk environments
- Sound knowledge of security technologies, including CCTV, alarm systems and access controls
- Code BE Driver’s Licence
