MANAGER: MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING
Opportunity | Duty Description
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAs)
- Management and Cost Accounting
- Responsible for the preparation and interpretation of the management accounts for the business. This includes the provision of financial / quantitative data, as well as non-financial information, to enable effective scorekeeping, cost control, planning, pricing and management decision-making.
- Assist with the management and controls over costs and expenditure for the Bank. This includes identifying cost drivers, direct costs, hidden costs, contingent liability costs and less tangible costs to support management decision-making in the effective and appropriate management and control of costs.
- Assists with the identification and analyses of industry trends regarding operating cost structures and cost efficiencies / economies of scale.
- Assists with various analyses to prepare recommendations in order to influence pricing structures to improve margins and revenue streams.
- Assist with pricing policy compliance and monitoring.
- Assists with the investigation, assessment and impact calculations of new revenue streams.
- Assists with the investigation of alternative cost structures and solutions to optimise financial returns.
- Assists with the development and integration of new and optimised Management Information Systems.
- Special Projects
- Assists with the preparation and interpretation of viability studies to assist Management to assess the financial performance criteria for new project proposals, including product pricing and joint venture cost and profitability analyses.
- Provide pre- and post-implementation evaluations of new and existing projects to confirm financial feasibility/outcomes.
- Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Assist with the consolidation and preparation of the annual budgets, revised estimates and rolling financial forecasts for the bank and its subsidiaries.
- Assists with the application of financial models in order to perform “what if” forecasting scenarios and financial options based on changing variables.
- Assists with the ongoing measuring and monitoring of actuals against budget to assess progress and to identify problem / risk areas and / or growth opportunities.
- Personnel Management
4.1 Application and utilization of personnel
- Ensure that personnel are judiciously applied in appropriate posts and that the workload is cleared with the minimum mistakes and overtime.
- Ensure that personnel are correctly applied and fully utilized.
4.2 Personnel Training, Development and Facilitation
- Ensure that formal and on-the-job training is effectively planned and conducted to ensure that sufficient expertise is available to deal with the work.
- Ensure that the mentorship in the department is effective to enable all personnel to develop to their full potential.
4.3 Evaluation of Personnel
- Ensure that you have sufficient knowledge of personnel and their duties to do effective evaluation and also ensure that ongoing discussions take place.
- Ensure that evaluations are done on a regular basis according to the guidelines of the system.
- Ensure that steps are taken to develop employees for performance improvement.

Opportunity | Duty Requirement(s)
EXPEREINCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- At least 6 years working experience in the financial accounting field of which 4 years should have been at a managerial level
- Knowledge of business & administration procedures
- Knowledge of accounting systems and processing activities
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Must have an aptitude for detail and critical analysis
- SAP experience will be an added advantage
- People management skills in coaching, mentoring, team goal structuring and performance management
- Computer literacy essential (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Detail conscious
- Presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication proficiency in English
QUALIFICATION
- Grade 12
- Degree in Management Accounting required
- Post – graduate qualification in Management Accounting will be an added advantage
