Opportunity | Duty Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager: Investments, the Manager: Investments is responsible to target particular industries and projects which are aligned to the Bank’s development mandate in order to develop and proactively management investment opportunities; to manage the systems, processes and capacity required for continuity of assessment and portfolio management with a high level of predictive accuracy and to manage an effective investment portfolio.
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Implement the business unit objectives and monitor the execution thereof.
- Review annually and operationalise the Business Generation Strategy and Plan to guide the appropriate marketing and business generation activities for the Department in the Bank’s key focus areas.
- Collaborate closely with all relevant departments to promote portfolio growth and quality of the loan book and report on the growth and quality of investments and other significant issues to the Head: Investments.
- Manage the implementation and effectiveness of customer relationship activities within the business unit, ensure that client queries are attended to and facilitate solutions as required.
- Highlight key risk factors impacting the investment portfolio to management and propose solutions.
- Offer advice to develop and review investment policies and procedures, implement advice to ensure continuous compliance and collaborate with the Department to identify and recommend measures for improvement.
- Represent the Bank’s interests in various external forums and build networks in the market for the purpose of maximizing investment returns whilst proactively mitigating risks.
- Oversee the quality of investment recommendations presented for approval purposes, review and recommend investment proposals to the relevant mandated authorities, lead or conduct loan appraisals in line with the Bank’s risk appetite and coordinate the further investigation, due diligence and project timelines in order to execute all business unit
projects effectively. - Manage investment projects according to pre-defined targets and objectives and lead multisector teams, where necessary, to build or arrange projects, from concept note through to project design, project preparation, due diligence, feasibility and implementation.
- Manage business unit effectiveness, remain accountable for investment recommendations and achieve a high degree of operational efficiency by applying prudent investment management principles.
- Participate in departmental resource planning to ensure control of financial needs and resources and remain accountable for all financial resources and business unit expenditure
- Setting performance targets, conducting performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching, addressing development needs, maintaining clear communication channels and sharing information, and resolving high level queries, problems and conflict situations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Finance and or Investment (NQF level 7) from a NQA recognized tertiary institution.
- At least 7 years’ banking experience with exposure to investment financing and including 2 years in a senior supervisory capacity.
- A valid Code BE Driver’s License.
- Excellent customer orientation/focus.

- A robust ability to solve problems and to troubleshoot.
