Maintenance Manager @ Ongava – Lodge Based
Purpose of the Position:
The Position directs the scheduling and management of all maintenance-related work at each of the four lodges/camps by managing a team of maintenance technicians, including workshop mechanics and all maintenance staff. The role includes but is not limited to; management of maintenance, repair and renovation, management of the vehicle and heavy machinery fleet, including the workshop, health and safety compliance, ensuring that all property is and remains in line with the standards and ethos of the Ongava group.
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience of management or senior position in the tourism industry.
• Relevant tertiary education would be advantageous.
• Demonstrable skills and knowledge in maintenance (welding, carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, diesel engine maintenance etc.)
• Excellent communication skills towards personnel and guests.
• Completely computer literate with excellent administrative skills.
• Fluent in English. Additional languages would be advantageous.
• Interest in conservation and the environment would be advantageous.
• Have a valid driver’s license and PDP.
Key Requirements and Competencies:
• Knowledge and experience with maintenance-related skills.
• Knowledge of diesel pumps, pool pumps, sewerage systems, water and pressure pump systems, air conditioning units, generators, carpentry etc.
• Budgeting and financial reporting.
• Pay meticulous attention to detail.
• Conscientious attitude with pride work and working environment.
• Highly responsible and self-motivated.
• Should be able to work long, flexible hours, unsupervised and under pressure.
• Must be Namibian citizen/permanent resident/in possession of a valid work permit.
• Clean disciplinary and CRIMINAL RECORD.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Managing all maintenance, repair and renovation projects.
• Managing vehicle and heavy machinery fleet, including vehicle tracking system.
• Managing all maintenance staff and workshop mechanics.
• Managing maintenance stock, workshop and vehicle ordering systems.
• Ensuring all facilities at Ongava, including the Airstrip, satisfies all industry regulations and health and safety protocols, procedures, conduct regular health and safety audits.
• Maintenance-related budget and financial reporting to the General Manager.
• Ensuring and maintaining good relationships with all suppliers and personnel.
