MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT
Reporting to the Manager: Operations Support, the Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the maintenance of the infrastructure of the Bank by performing hands-on repairs and working with or overseeing external contractors to ensure a safe, productive and professional working environment.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Conduct the planning of infrastructure maintenance schedules, receive, address and record information on service requests, perform inspections on the infrastructure and work environment for defects and assign priority to it, update maintenance schedules and maintain a key register for all doors on the premises.
Control the maintenance and repair services by external service providers, including updating the service needs of equipment and machinery and initiate the procurement process to identify a list of suitable and qualified service providers for air conditioners, plumbers, electricians, lift technicians, etc.
Monitor the service level agreements and provide feedback on the performance of service providers regarding the compliance with the agreements and liaise with the service providers in order to address problems or deficiencies and ensure good and uninterrupted service.
Execute in-house repairs on various fittings and breakages relating to basic carpentry, electricity, plumbing, welding and or bricklaying tasks.
Maintain, repair and register all tools and machinery acquired by the Bank to perform basic maintenance functions.
Provide ad hoc administrative or clerical support in the Operations Support unit as and when required.
Provide operational support in setting up and maintaining of a safe and functional working space for new and existing staff, including telecommunication, printer and relocation support.
Be available after hours to attend to any emergency related to the structural infrastructure of the Bank.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
An NQF Level-4 technical training (e.g. plumbing, electrical, welding, brick laying, etc.).
At least 3 years’ experience as a building contractor / in a construction environment with exposure to project management.
Sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
Good customer orientation / focus.
Genuine interpersonal sensitivity and teamwork.
Attention to detail.
Initiative and sound organizing ability.
