Logistics Manager

Introduction
The primary purpose of the Logistic Manager is to manage the day-to-day operations of the Logistics department. To establish and maintain performance and productivity metrics and cost management processes as well as manages & oversee all collection routes.
The successful incumbent will also be responsible for managing and overseeing the Logistics Supervisors, Drivers & Assistants performance daily within multiple lines of the business.
Job Specification
- Manage Performance of Operations Logistics Department
Manages the day-to-day operations of the logistics department and provides daily support to the logistics supervisors in ensuring quality and budget performance.
- Monitors budget and operating metrics
Monitors budget and operating metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.
Executes the Market’s strategic capital budget, ensuring effective use of the budget through asset allocation; ensures appropriate spare ratios and asset disposal.
Participates in regular budget reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labour and material costs.
Formulates both short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the budget.
- Health & Safety
Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations. Ensures thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following-up with consistent discipline and retraining.
- Human Resources
Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.
Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
Works with functional groups to resolve employee relations and labour relations issues.
- Client Service
Interacts with customers to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts.
Engages with customers to problem solve and find solutions and participates in improvement processes by providing performance feedback.
Skills Required:
Customer service, customer relations, health and safety, financial, and human resources function, experience as a manager; experience implementing safety (OSHA) programs and equipment specifications, experience preparing and managing budgets, and experience resolving labour relations issues required.
Requirements
Grade 12
Tertiary education (Diploma or Degree) in Logistics Management or equivalent will be an advantage
5 – 10 years’ experience in logistics/fleet management experience
5 – 10 years of operational & logistics experience
Valid drivers license
Excellent communication skills required
Excellent planning skills required
