Junior Data Analyst

Opportunity | Duty Description

This position is responsible for ongoing data management, and analysis of Health Information obtained from a variety of sources. It involves training, development and preparation of information products. It requires proficiency with analytical tools such as DHIS 1.4 and DHIS 2, Excel, Epi-lnfo and Geographical Information Systems (GlS); knowledge of data analysis methodology, use of personation software, strong communication skills and a strong commitment to and affinity for delivering the highest level of customer service.

More specially the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the implementation and rollout of various information systems for the MOHSS, most notably DHIS2 and OpenMRS. The successful candidate will be expected to install, configure and maintain both software and hardware at various levels within the health system districts, health facilities and the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The incumbent is also responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of the network and server hosting the DHIS2 and OpenMRS databases as well as responding to help desk requests

Opportunity | Duty Requirement(s)

Performs data analysis and uses databases for analysis of health problems.
Ensures the efficient data collection, processing, and analysis of routine data from facility levels and other data collection venues across the country.
Assisting with the development of training materials for health workers and Health Information Officers at operational level.
Responsible training and capacity building of operational level teams in data capturing, processing, and analysis using DHIS, Epi-lnfo GIS and other statistical methods and tools.
Responsible for creating regular system/ network/ server maintenance, backups and the relevant record-keeping and storage of data at the National level.
Responsible for supervision and mentoring of data typist and clerks within the division.
Responsible to provide suggestions for development of DHIS based on needs identified at the National and Operational levels in coordination with programme officers.
Responsible for technical support of desktop applications to all end-users.
Responsible for DHIS, OpenMRS and GIS troubleshooting problems and carry out repairs on computer systems (both Hard and software) including creating computer programme if necessary.
Responsible for systems installation and overall software and server management.
Configure and maintain hardware
Installation and configuration of software;
Connect health facilities to fie Internet and support troubleshooting of district internet connections;
If necessary, configure a WAN and LAN at health facilities;
Provide training to end users in the software package they are using;
Identify trends, issues, or problems which may require changes to existing SOP’s and system improvements.

Added Advantages | Special Requirement(s)

A Bachelor’s degree in Health Services or Information Systems, Epidemiology or Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field;
Demonstrable work experience of at least three years in the area of hardware maintenance, database management and helpdesk;
Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills;
Ability to train and mentor with excellent communication and facilitation skills;
Ability to maintain professional confidentiality at all times;
Ability to speak in public and write professional reports in English;
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Certification in network administration and server hosing
Experience with working in the health sector-and research settings
Extensive knowledge of and working experience in both the DHIS 2 and OpenMRS software systems;
The ability to write computer programmes, design database structures and assist with development of computerised information systems
