Key Responsibilities
- Direct jetty team and stevedore personnel.
- Ensure vessels have safe gangways for embarkation.
- Oversee offloading of wet and freezer vessels.
- Manage loading of bins, ice, and packaging on vessels.
- Ensure bins are cleaned before vessel loading.
- Ensure wet and freezer provisions are delivered on time.
- Coordinate timely collection and delivery of vessel laundry at docking.
- Maintain accurate fuel records for the main fuel tank and ensure monthly fuel tank readings are taken.
- Liaise with contractor for fuel tank dips three times weekly.
- Ensure jetty water hoses are in good condition and prevent water wastage.
- Ensure availability of oil spill kits at the jetty and fuel intake area.
- Ensure jetty team and stevedores maintain clean jetty toilets.
- Control fuel supply to vessels.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards by jetty team and stevedores.
- Assist shore skipper in his absence.
- Schedule delivery of crew fish heads and grab at the jetty and ensure the jetty is clean and well organised.
- Arrange collection of rental cars after vessel departure.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of fuel tank and fuel intake area.
- Ensure fuel trolley is cleaned and properly stored when not in use.
- Create and upload Libra tallies over weekends.
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate (Diploma or Certificate in Port Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in jetty, port, fleet or maritime operations, of which at least 2 years should be in a supervisory role.
- Computer literate.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to use initiative, make independent decisions, and analyse and interpret information.
- Knowledge of the SAP system.
- Previous experience in a Fleet Department with a knowledge of HACCP, hygiene standards, and forklift operations.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Flexible to work long hours, overtime, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Namibian citizen with a valid driver’s license.
