VACANCY
An opportunity exists for interested and qualified candidates to apply for the mentioned position at Namib Mills (Pty) Ltd, situated in Windhoek.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Ensure that the organisation’s proprietary and sensitive information is secure. The successful candidate will work interdepartmentally to identify and correct flaws in the company’s security systems, solutions, and programs while recommending specific measures that can improve the company’s overall security posture.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
⦁ Monitor computer networks for security issues.
⦁ Investigate security breaches and other cyber security incidents.
⦁ Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls and data encryption programs.
⦁ Work with IT team to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities.
⦁ Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
⦁ Perform penetration testing.
⦁ Help colleagues install security software and understand information security management.
⦁ Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.
⦁ Stay up-to-date on information technology trends and security standards.
⦁ Perform any adhoc tasks as allocated by Supervisor and/or Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
⦁ Grade 12 (NQF 4) and a three (3) year degree in an IT related field.
⦁ 5 years’ relevant experience in related IT field such as experience in Network Design; Information Security; Computer
Network Penetration Testing and Techniques; Setting Up, Maintaining and Reporting on Firewalls.
⦁ Understanding of firewalls, proxies, antivirus, and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) concepts.
⦁ Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them.
⦁ Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact.
⦁ A certification in the specific field would be an added advantage (Certified Ethical Hacker).
⦁ Namibian Citizen or Eligible for Namibian citizenship.
⦁ Valid driver’s licence.
⦁ Able to communicate well in written and spoken English.
⦁ Must be willing to work overtime and/or weekends.
