Requirements:
An appropriate B Degree or equivalent qualification on NQF Level 7 in one of the following disciplines: Media Studies. Journalism. Communication, Information Studies/ Record Management.
Supplementary Requirements:
Applicants should have at least 2 years extensive experience in Journalism and Media. Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral. Experience in managing content on websites, social media platforms and Record Management will be an additional advantage.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Compliance and interpretation of the Public Service Act, Public Service Staff Rules and Regulations, State Finance Act, Labour Act, Archive Act, Treasury Instructions. Tender Board Act, Research. Science and Technology Act and other relevant Acts and Regulations governing research, publications and information services:
- Interview news sources for writing of articles for the journal, website, social media platforms and other publications;
- Liaise with the media, government Offices/Minlstries/Agencies and the public;
- Prepare media releases, public notices on Committee and National Council activities;
- Conduct civic education activities and outreach programmes;
- Arrange and coordinate image boosting exhibitions for Parliament, attend and manage Parliament exhibition stands at trade shows/ fairs;
- Conduct information and educational tours for various stakeholders at Parliament;
- Photographing and archiving of all official events at Parliament;
- Carrying out primary and secondary research services for the Division;
- Develop an Information/Resource Centre for Excellent service to Members and staff of the National Council based on the Resource Centre Policy:
- Do research on material needed for the Resource Centre, the ordering of such material supplies/books and request for approval from supervisor before acquiring them and maintain records of
such
material, books following a simple cataloguing system.;
- Responding to research queries from Members of Parliament and staff of the National Council;
- Take responsibility for record management and administration i.e. compilation of reports for the division. Directorate and the Office;
- Carry out Desk Top Publishing functions (design and layout) for Parliament publications;
- Informs the media and public about the public hearings and over sight activities conducted by National Council Parliamentary Standing Committees;
- Reports to the Chief Information Officerand perform any other duties as requested from time to time by the Chief Information Officer.
Deputy Director, and Director, Secretary of the National Council or the Vice Chairperson and the Chairperson of the National Council.
