VACANCY
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan, lead, and direct the ICT Development and Innovation function for digital transformation acceleration by driving the planning, execution, and oversight of proactive software development, technological innovation, digitalization initiatives, and deployment of state-of-the-art technologies to ensure alignment with organizational goals in compliance to relevant policies and regulations. This role is pivotal in achieving Namport’s strategic objectives and reports directly to the Executive: ICT
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of technical professionals within the division to drive the successful delivery of digital transformation initiatives.
- Develop, drive, implement, and maintain robust strategies/ plans for the division to improve service delivery processes and operational efficiency.
- Drive the organisation’s digital transformation agenda, ensuring the adoption of emerging technologies and solutions.
- Develop and manage approved divisional OPEX and CAPEX budget and expenditure, including divisional labour cost, cost control initiatives according to policy guidelines.
- Identify and implement state-of-the-art technologies from the external ICT ecosystem where they can add practical value to the organisation.
- Stay updated on emerging ICT trends and technologies to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of digital innovation.
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their needs and develop appropriate software solutions.
- Develop the ICT policies, standards and procedures of the organization and monitor application and compliance thereof.
- Oversee external software development, ensuring it meets project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Research, design and oversee the implementation of identified ICT infrastructure projects including networking, hardware and software infrastructure.
- Research, plan, and oversee the implementation of identified enterprise software projects, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), and other business and operational systems.
- Lead the adoption and integration of Microsoft technologies across the organization.
- Promote the use of Microsoft technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Oversee the provision of training and support to ensure successful implementation and usage of Microsoft tools.
- Oversee the business analysis function by planning and managing thorough analysis of business processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and document business requirements for new systems and solutions and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements align with business goals.
- Lead the management of projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet the required quality standards.
- Drive, facilitate and monitor all functional risk management interventions activities to ensure business continuity.
- Coordinate and develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders relating to the function for a positive customer experience.
- Provide effective team leadership and management to develop a strong department team culture that supports continual organizational improvement, performance, and productivity.
- Prepare and present top management with reports on team performance, service levels, and customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- An Honours Degree [NQF Level 8] in Information Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science, or equivalent.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant technical experience in the ICT sphere, especially within software development, digital transformation, and project management, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
- Three (3) years of experience in a specialist or senior supervisory capacity involving leading ICT functions and diverse teams.
- Strong track record in digital transformation, project management, Microsoft technologies, ICT infrastructure, and enterprise applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Terminal Operating Systems.
- Certification in Cloud technologies, Project Management, Business Analysis, Agile methodologies, Governance, Service Level Management, and enterprise software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Navis, etc.) will be an added advantage.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, focusing on delivering excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong customer relationships.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and metrics to drive operational improvements.
- Proven experience in driving process improvements and optimizing service delivery workflows.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, adapting to evolving business needs.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Must be versatile, flexible, and decisive.
