Key Responsibilities
- The Hostel Matron is responsible for the;
- Overall smooth operation of the hostel facility through managing and administering trainee hostel admissions.
- Overseeing the allocation of rooms, and ensuring that trainees’ living areas are adequately resourced, well maintained, comfortable and conducive.
- Planning and administration of trainee meals.
- Trainee well-being in hostel matters including health, safety, trainee discipline, parental consultations, organisation of hostel related trainee events, security working closely with trainee affairs in such matters.
- Compliance and general administration.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Hospitality Management NQF Level 6 with at least 3 years’ relevant working experience, OR
- National Vocational Certificate in Hospitality Management (Level 3) with at least 5 years’ relevant working experience.
- Valid Code B driver’s license.
- Health and safety certification is an added advantage
- Ability to make appropriate assessments and independent judgments and take initiative.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of the administration and management of self-catering trainee hostel accommodation.
- Basic knowledge in counselling.
- Experience in catering services or food preparation.
