HIV Nurse Mentors (x2 positions) – I-TECH Namibia

I-TECH Namibia promotes activities that increase human capacity for providing HIV/AIDS clinical care and support through the development of health care worker training systems. I-TECH invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following position:

HIV Nurse Mentors x2 (x 1 Rundu District; x1 Nankudu District).

The Position:

The goal of this position is to provide technical assistance to staff in selected health facilities in the implementation and operationalization of National ART guidelines, including but not limited to the rollout of NIMART and in furthering the MoHSS goal of closing the gaps in the HIV Care and treatment cascade at the level of health facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist sites in developing strategies to close gaps along the HIV treatment continuum.
• Support staff in ensuring high quality management of adults and children on ART.
• Provide limited direct HIV patient care, mainly for more complex cases.
• Support quality improvement initiatives at sites and support health facility teams to prepare for SIMS assessments, and to improve services as required.
• Assist in the development and utilization of standard operating procedures to improve services at ART clinics and other relevant departments in the health facilities.
• In collaboration with other stakeholders, identify HIV training needs at ART sites.
• Provide and/or assist in ART and other HIV-related training, both on- and off-site and provide post-training support.

Required Education. Training & Experience:

• Degree in Nursing and registration as a Registered Nurse with the HPCNA.
• At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience including management of patients with HIV on ART.
• Previous experience in training nurses in NIMART would be an advantage.
• Previous experience as a supervisor would be an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people of different backgrounds.
• Ability to thrive in a high-paced atmosphere and perform as a team player.
