HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Most Namibian mining employers require a Grade 10 or 12 certificate and a valid Namibian driver's license. You must also complete formal heavy equipment operator training from a recognized institution such as the Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) or similar vocational centers. Additional certifications like a blasting certificate or safety tickets (e.g., First Aid, SHE) significantly improve your employability.

You will operate machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, or haul trucks to move earth, ore, and materials at mine sites. Daily tasks include conducting pre-operational safety inspections, maintaining equipment logs, and coordinating with site supervisors and other operators. Strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations is mandatory given Namibia's focus on responsible mining practices.
