HEAD OF PROCUREMENT – PROCUREMENT WINDHOEK (Job Grade: D-Upper)
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Head of Procurement is responsible for overseeing the entire procurement function of the company. The role encompasses strategic planning, team coordination, supplier relationship management, risk management, risk mitigation, and budget management. The Procurement Manager will ensure the efficient acquisition of goods and services, aligning procurement strategies with company’s overall objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the procurement team to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Implement procurement-related training programs to enhance team capabilities and efficiency.
- Identify potential risks in procurement processes and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Address compliance and regulatory challenges proactively.
- Manage risks related to supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and the financial stability of suppliers.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, develop contingency plans, and diversify the supplier base to ensure operational continuity.
- Negotiate supplier agreements to secure optimal terms and conditions.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.
- Develop strategies to foster positive supplier relationships and address challenges proactively.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent certificate.
- A 3-year diploma or 4-year degree in Supply Chain/Procurement Management.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern management techniques and procurement best practices.
- Familiarity with industry operational rules and production goals.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide the procurement team.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
- Ability to analyze procurement data and market trends to inform strategic decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain supplier relationships.
- Adept at negotiation to secure favorable terms and enhance supplier collaboration.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple procurement projects and deadlines.
- Strong numerical aptitude to manage budgets and financial reporting.
